MEET GOV. MCKEE
LIFELONG RHODE ISLANDER
Born and raised in Cumberland, Dan McKee learned the value of hard work and community service from his parents, James and Willa. Dan married his school sweetheart from Cumberland High, Susan, and the two raised their children, Matt and Kara, right in their hometown. Dan’s father founded the Boys Club in Cumberland, which Dan later expanded to be the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island. Dan and his family have been operating small businesses and creating jobs in our state for more than 100 years.
EXPERIENCED COMMUNITY LEADER
Concerned about the town’s finances, Dan McKee ran for and became Mayor of Cumberland, where fixed the local budget and delivered services efficiently. As Lieutenant Governor, Dan fought for small businesses – more state support, fewer fees, and less red tape – while delivering new grants for health care workers and patients.
CHAMPION FOR RHODE ISLAND
In March 2021, Dan McKee became the 76th Governor of Rhode Island amidst the most challenging global pandemic in over 100 years. Governor McKee delivered one of the best vaccine rollouts in America and provided steady leadership to rebuild Rhode Island’s economy. With unemployment at 2.7% — tied for lowest on record — Governor McKee is working to sustain our state’s economic momentum and raise incomes for Rhode Islanders.
