INVESTING IN EDUCATION
Education has always been the pillar of Governor McKee’s public service, and he has taken action to make sure a high-quality public education is within reach of every Rhode Islander.
Governor McKee has invested in students and educators from early childhood education through college, and in every district in Rhode Island – making sure none will suffer funding cuts due to fluctuations in pandemic-related enrollment declines.
Governor McKee knows that a good education relies on good educators, so he prioritized teachers in his vaccine rollout and was able to re-open schools safely and get students back in the classroom.
In the budget, Governor McKee directed a combined $300 million towards school construction – because all students deserve the opportunity to learn in a safe, state-of-the-art facility where they can thrive and grow.
With Governor McKee’s emphasis on education across the spectrum, he made permanent the state’s successful free college tuition program for high school grads, and invested much-needed funding into all of Rhode Island’s public higher ed institutions.
